The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies recently released a new book entitled “Beyond the Critters: Considerations for Managing and Leading State Fish & Wildlife Agencies,” by Dr. Dwight Guynn, former employee of the Association’s Management Assistance Team. Dr. Guynn's book is based on his thirty years of experience in the wildlife management profession and includes chapters on agency management systems, interrelatedness of agency components, successful agency change, leadership, interaction with the public and emotion in communications with the public, among others. This is the only book available that addresses managing and leading in a state fish & wildlife agency.
The Management Assistance Team will offer a newly developed 6-week online course entitled "Reflections on Agency Management," facilitated by Dwight himself. Registration will begin June 12, 2017 and class will start July 10, 2017. Contact Amanda Myers at amandam @ matteam.org for more information.
Copies of this book are available from the Association’s Management Assistance Team (contact bettinaf @ matteam.org). All proceeds from sales go back into the Association’s support of state fish and wildlife agencies.
