Developing Strategies

The challenges of the future are many, but the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies is clearly facing them head on. The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies effectively monitors the management of North America’s wildlife by cooperating and coordinating efforts at every level of government. The Association is helping state fish and wildlife agencies make a planned and progressive effort to battle misinformation and political interests by building strong public support for sound wildlife management. Most importantly, the Association remains committed to representing wildlife interests in Washington as the one voice based on scientific principles and not politics. Over the past century and beyond, the Association has developed into a powerful, effective voice for the fish and wildlife of this country. Now, more than ever, that voice needs to be heard.

Moving forward, the Association is taking on challenges and focusing on the following goals:

  • To promote the sustainable use of natural resources

  • To encourage the professional management of fish and wildlife

  • To develop coalitions among conservation organizations to promote fish and wildlife interests

  • To foster public understanding of the need for conservation

  • To encourage cooperation and coordination of fish and wildlife management at all levels of government
