Focus Areas
In 2010, the Industry/Agency Coalition launched its most exciting effort to date—the Council to Advance Hunting & the Shooting Sports. In September 2010, the Council held its inaugural meeting and seated a 23-member Board of Directors from top hunting and shooting-related NGOs and trade organizations and conservation leaders from state and federal agencies to formulate a national recruitment and retention strategy and methods of acquiring sustainable funding to drive such a strategy.
The Council also is focused on developing and maintaining the staff and resources needed to help state agencies permanently grow and manage shooters and hunters. The Council is a non-profit, 501(c) 3 tax-exempt, educational organization. It currently is supported through pledges from 28 states that have committed Wildlife Restoration Funds for operations.
