    Statement from the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Commending Secretary Zinke Announcement of Distributing Funding to State Fish and Wildlife Agencies

    The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies applauds Secretary Zinke's announcement releasing $1.1 billion in revenues generated by the Pittman-Robertson (P-R) Wildlife Restoration and Dingell-Johnson (D-J) Sport Fish Restoration acts. This funding supports critical state fish and wildlife conservation and recreation projects throughout the nation and comes from excise taxes paid by the hunting, shooting, boating and angling industries on firearms, bows and ammunition (Pittman-Robertson), and sportfishing tackle, some boat engines and small engine fuel (Dingell-Johnson). more

    The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies applauds Secretary Zinke for naming Greg Sheehan as deputy director of the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. Greg Sheehan has served as Director of the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources since 2012. During his 25 years in the natural resources and wildlife management sector, Sheehan has shown a track record of successfully restoring fish and wildlife species and working collaboratively with his state and national peers. more

    The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies Welcomes Perdue as the New USDA Secretary

    The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies applauds the confirmation of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as the 31st U.S. Secretary of Agriculture who was sworn in this week with a favorable 87-11 vote. The newly confirmed Secretary Perdue will lead the Department of Agriculture (USDA) which oversees land and water conservation on private lands and operation of the U.S. Forest Service, as well as the nation's food and farm programs. Perhaps most importantly, Perdue will contribute to the debate around the reauthorizing the Farm Bill, set to expire in 2018. more

Elena will oversee all aspects of the AFWA Project WILD program including management of Project WILD staff, coordination with Project WILD state partners, and stewardship of existing Project WILD brands. more
