    The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies Welcomes Perdue as the New USDA Secretary

    The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies applauds the confirmation of former Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue as the 31st U.S. Secretary of Agriculture who was sworn in this week with a favorable 87-11 vote. The newly confirmed Secretary Perdue will lead the Department of Agriculture (USDA) which oversees land and water conservation on private lands and operation of the U.S. Forest Service, as well as the nation's food and farm programs. Perhaps most importantly, Perdue will contribute to the debate around the reauthorizing the Farm Bill, set to expire in 2018. more

    AFWA Selects Elena Takaki-Moschell as the New National Project WILD Director

    The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AFWA) welcomes Elena Takaki-Moschell as Project WILD Director. Elena will oversee all aspects of the AFWA Project WILD program including management of Project WILD staff, coordination with Project WILD state partners, and stewardship of existing Project WILD brands. more

    Statement from the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies Applauding President Trump on Signing the Passage of HJ Resolution 69

    The Association is very pleased with President Donald Trump's signing of HJ Res 69, which nullifies the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) final rule on "Non-Subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures, on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska" (81 Fed. Reg.52248, April 5, 2016). The USFWS final rule preempted the authority of the Alaska Department of Fish and Game to manage wildlife on National Wildlife Refuges (NWRs), whose authority is affirmed in three federal statutes. more

    Statement from the Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies on the Passage of HJ 69

    The Association is very pleased with the favorable legislative conclusion through Tuesday night's 52-47 passage of HJ Res 69, which nullifies the U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) final rule on "Non-Subsistence Take of Wildlife, and Public Participation and Closure Procedures, on National Wildlife Refuges in Alaska" (81 Fed. Reg.52248, April 5, 2016). The Association sincerely appreciates the leadership of Alaska's Congressional Delegation, Congressman Don Young, Senator Dan Sullivan, and Senator Lisa Murkowski, in shepherding this Resolution of Disapproval. more

    The Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies is proud to announce that Project WILD has joined the Association. Project WILD was previously run by the Council for Environmental Education (CEE). The Project WILD brand (Project WILD, Project WILD Aquatic, Flying WILD, and Growing Up WILD) brings conservation education through more than 50,000 educators per year, promoting responsible stewardship of natural resources in the United States and several other countries. more

    PARC Receives Forest Service-Bureau of Land Management Conservation Leadership Partner Award

    The Association of Fish and Wildlife Agencies is proud to share the news that Partners in Amphibian and Reptile Conservation (PARC) was selected as the recipient for the Forest Service-Bureau of Land Management Conservation Leadership Partner Award on March 8, 2017. This award is presented annually to an organization that demonstrates outstanding leadership and sustained dedication to conservation. It was presented at the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference in Spokane, Washington. more
