Wind Energy Subcommittee
The Wind Energy Subcommittee works cooperatively with public and private interests to protect fish and wildlife resources and their habitats during the exploration, development and production of wind energy in North America. The subcommittee is charged with enhancing relationships and partnering in activities with federal, state and provincial agencies; local governments; industry; utility regulators; universities; and NGOs such as the National Wind Coordinating Collaborative (NWCC), Clean Energy States Alliance (CESA), Western Governors Association and National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners as it relates to regional, national and international wind energy issues. It
The subcommittee also engages in the development of wind energy policy to secure favorable language related to fish and wildlife considerations in local, state and federal energy bills. And, it considers consider landscape-level impacts from wind energy development such as fragmentation as well as direct species specific impacts.
