Migratory Shore and Upland Game Bird

Committee Description

The Migratory Shore and Upland Game Bird Committee is responsible for keeping the Association informed an matters impacting all migratory shore and upland game birds.

The committee keeps current with developments and management needs and maintain active liaison with the US Fish and Wildlife Service and the Association's Legal Counsel. The committee develops objectives and strategies for solving problems and addressing management challenges, and works closely with the regional associations on matters related to appropriate wildlife species and drafts and recommend positions to the Executive Committee for action.

In working towards these goals, the committee recognizes the international nature of managing migratory shore and upland game birds, and not only supports international initiatives, but also prepares to contribute to the activities and involvement of the International Affairs Committee and the Migratory Wildlife Committee as appropriate.

The committee also works closely with the Migratory Wildlife Committee, the Flyway Councils, interagency advisory groups, and the US Department of the Interior to identify problems and management opportunities regarding migratory shore and upland game birds.
