Annual Meeting/Awards/Nominating
Committee Description
The responsibility of the Time and Place Committee is to make recommendations to the Executive Committee on the time and place of annual meetings three years in advance. The committee should send out a solicitation to all member agencies to ascertain those wishing to extend an invitation. The invitations received should be evaluated by the committee with respect to geographic location, adequacy of facilities, and the frequency of meetings held in any particular region. Recommendations should be made to the Executive Committee at the annual meeting in September.
Awards
The principal responsibilities of the Awards Committee are to annually select the recipient of the Seth Gordon Award; to select an agency to receive the Ernest Thompson Seton Award, identifying the individual within that agency with lead responsibility for the team effort; to select the agency to receive the Boone and Crockett Club Award and recognize the individual most responsible for accomplishments that led to that award; and, upon the recommendation of the Law Enforcement Committee, to select a recipient for the Law Enforcement Award.
Criteria and background information for the Seth Gordon, Ernest Thompson Seton and Boone and Crockett Club Awards.
The Committee is requested to review and approve criteria for the Law Enforcement Award -- the criteria to be developed and suggested by the Law Enforcement Committee.
The committee chairman is responsible for soliciting nominations from the members and for preparing an announcement to be run in the Newsletter soliciting nominees from Associate members for the awards. After selections have been made, the committee is responsible for preparing the narrative statement to be used in the presentation of the awards and for transmitting the information on the winners to the President and the Executive Vice President not later than August 1 to allow time for engraving and making necessary arrangements with award sponsors.
The committee is also responsible, when it deems it appropriate, to select members for Honorary Life Membership; and to devise and suggest other awards and recognition as may be appropriate, or as requested by the President.
The committee is requested to continue work with the Law Enforcement Committee in completing the arrangements for an annual Association Award for Law Enforcement achievement.
