Angler/Boating Participation
Committee Description
Related to the strategic priorities of the Association, the Angling and Boating Participation Committee plays a primary role in guiding actions of the Association that maintain and enhance participation in angling, boating and other aquatic resource based recreation. Priority objectives of the Committee include:
- Policies in Support of Angling and BoatingWork with member organizations, federal partners and private conservation and recreation organizations to promote policies that enhance aquatic-based recreational opportunities. Policies of interest include, but are not limited to public access statutes, funding to support outdoor recreation access and participation, access guidelines for disabled users and conservation policies necessary to continued recreational demand.
- Programs to Maintain ParticipationWork with states, federal and private partners to identify barriers to enhanced participation and develop or support programs designed to overcome those barriers within broad or specific populations. A key challenge of the committee is to evaluate existing or proposed programs to leverage investment and foster communication to ensure maximum benefit from limited investment available to enhance participation.
- Information Among Partners, Users and Policy MakersFacilitate the timely and accurate flow of information regarding trends in participation, benefit of enhancement programs and costs of barriers to participation. Effective flow of information is necessary to promote sound policies, develop or refine enhancement strategies and project user needs for management purposes.
